Sign the declaration
Joining European.Social takes one step: sign the declaration. Everyone who signs is a supporter, and is placed in the Circle that fits them best: builders, communities, organisations or individuals. The Circles are where people meet and work together, and where the Association listens. There is no fee and no formal membership yet; that will follow when we move to a full membership structure. Sign before 4 November 2026 and you will be listed as a founding supporter of your Circle.
Builders’ Circle
For the people building Europe’s social platforms, apps, protocols and infrastructure.
At European.Social we start with a simple idea: connections make us stronger. People connections. Technology connections. Infrastructure connections. Funding connections. The Builders’ Circle is where Europe’s builders come together, find connections and use them to accelerate and strengthen the innovative and diverse things they are doing. We’re backed by the teams behind Matrix, the Fediverse and Eurosky. All builders themselves. We’d love you to join us.
Community Circle
For the communities, institutions and publishers using the open social stack.
The Community Circle is for the people gathering on open social networks, and the organisations using the open social stack. Here the people who depend on the infrastructure tell the people who build it what they need: moderation that works for a newsroom, feeds that work for a city, tools that work for a volunteer-run forum. If you run an online community, a newsroom, a broadcaster, a university or library, a municipality, or a civic group, and you publish or gather people on open social networks, the Community Circle is yours. If you want to do any of this, it’s yours too.

Almost 700 people have already signed the European.Social declaration. Developers, researchers, journalists, public officials, and people from all over Europe. United by a belief in better social media, European values, and the power of the open social stack. Signing as an individual puts your name behind the declaration and keeps you informed about everything we’re doing. As numbers grow, we plan to form chapters in each country: a place to meet, bring local institutions onto the stack, and shape a democratic Association.
